I am but a dream without a man,
the fastest thing, nowhere to run,
that bit of beauty never found,
where nightfall comes to sunless ground.

Infinite awe, with none to stun,
a dream I am, missing a man,
struggling to surface, lacking a sea,
in spite of what could ever be.

Inspiring all, affecting none,
audience of an immortal swan,
still being that dream that has no man,
vanishing in a lifeless span.

Presence that stands against the past,
no future lies in my rust,
what can't be done, can't be undone,
I am the dream that mocks the man.
